Mars+Saturn dark spot - 2/3rd July

SPX350, PGRFlea3, Baader RGB filters. Mars F41.3 Saturn F34.5.

Seeing was predicted to be good but it was fair and variable. Mars is getting smaller with phase and albedo features seem less contrasty now.

Saturn had a moment of good seeing on Sunday 3rd for just half an hour preceded by some of the worst seeing I have seen with heavy waves of instability bending Saturn like rubber and making the black inbetween the rings and disc disappear completely in turbulent defocus.

Saturn has a dark spot in the North Pole region shown in the GIF

Regards, John.
