You can password encrypt a Word & Excel file(s) on your PC or on a USB stick. I guess thats the MS password Rally was talking about above. Maybe not perfect but at least some trouble for anyone trying to access.
Open the Document, go to File, go to Information, then choose Protect Doc (if Word doc) or Workbook (if Excel doc) then choose Encrypt with password. You will then have a password protected document.
