Yes many species are seasonal, and have a small window within that season. From watching this year it seems to be dependent on rain, and temperature. We had a very dry Autumn up until the past fortnight with zero rain, and the fungi that was so prolific last year just didn't show. Others that I didn't see that much of in early Autumn were abundant.
But with the rain and the drop in morning temps to below 10deg they have started to show.
I have been concentrating on Schlerophyll bush land lately, but will make the drive to some of the mountainous rain-forest areas to find some of the more colourful varieties shortly.
