Hi Col. You my have been hearing me on air.. I love to listen at first, as well as the aviation band.. Then a friend of mine told me about how simplified the process had become to get a license to transmit. It's called a foundation license and allows for limited usage.. I decided to go for it, and to my supprise I passed... Then I learnt more with the support of my local radio club. Has been great fun and have met and spoken to many people. I have a group of about 6 friends that I talk to each day on my way to work in the car. I know lots about them (like pen pals). However I have never met any of them. I have upgraded to a higher level of license now and love talking to people all over the world via voice and digital transmissions.. It all started from doing what you do I'd a Dick Smiths Receiver...
