Mick,

Io is currently in transit across the face of Jupiter. If you look again right now (or at least before 10pm), Io's shadow is visible as a small black dot. Unfortunately, the shadow is currently falling on one of the major, dark bands and this makes it a little more difficult to observe. Nevertheless, it should be visible in a small telescope. I have just been observing it a moment ago with a 4inch ED refactor at about 94X.

Io itself is predicted to finish its transit and reappear next to Jupiter at 9.19pm.
