Based upon various inquiries there appear to be a few common misconceptions about this model.

First, the FC-100DC is very capable of widefield observing/AP etc. All that is required is the removal of the extender Q-1.6 unit and it reverts down from an f12 configuration to its native 740mm focal length (ie f7.4). The original photos are merely in its ‘planet killer’ configuration for observing Mars with the Extender Q-1.6 attached.

The other big misconception appears to be the belief it can’t be used with 2’ eyepieces. Included in this package are “2” two inch adapters which allow the use of 2’ eyepieces/diagonals in various configurations. The first is a 2’ adapter which attaches to the extender Q1.6 and allows use of the refractor in f12 mode but also with 2’ diagonal/eyepieces (not shown in photos). The second adapter directly attaches to the draw-tube and allows 2’ diagonal/eyepieces to be used when in the native f7.4 mode. The first photo below shows an example of this with the 2 inch Explore Scientific 24mm 82’ widefield eyepiece (a clone of the 2’ Televue 26mm Nagler).

Alternatively, also with the removal of the extender Q-1.6 it can simply be used with any array of 1.25 diagonals/eyepieces for widefield such as a 32mm Plossl or 24mm Panoptic. However, IMO better than either a 32 plossl or 24mm Pan is the view from a 13mm Ethos (see second photo).

With respect to price I am not asking the listed brand new value but rather reasonable offers given that virtually everything is 10 months or less old (for example the 1.25 diagonal is roughly 2 weeks old). My own view of reasonable offers is anything around 30% less the total brand new value.

Finally, please note that none of the displayed eyepieces or diagonal are included in the sale.
