Abusive Supplier
How do you deal with an unpleasant and abusive supplier of astronomy goods ?
I recently ordered some parts from an australian supplier, they were not expensive. Although i had read that this particular person can be difficult to deal with i wanted to buy from a local dealer took the chance. The parts were not in stock so i was told it would take about 2 weeks, and promptly forwarded the money.
The parts finally arrived 8 weeks later after i was told they were only ordered when a large order was sent. When i opened the package to my dismay they were the wrong parts so i contacted him by phone to discuss it. He became very aggressive and told me that i should have given him the parts numbers even though i had described the parts unambiguously in my first email and he did not request the numbers.
The call became rather heated after i was told i was my fault and it would take a few weeks further, he gave no absolute timeframe, for the correct parts to be sent. I asked for a refund and i would return the incorrect parts when the money was in my account.
His reply was i would get a refund when the parts arrived, he also stated since it was a small transaction he was not all that interested in my concerns and he then called me an "a...hole" and hung up.
How do you deal with someone like this, how do you warn those that are new to the hobby
