Revisiting what must be my favourite DSO, this time with the new wide field Stellarvue SV70T.
We probably all have an object that's become your bogie, no matter how many times you try, something goes wrong and you're never happy with the result!
I've now tried shooting something like 67 different targets over the past three years but fortunately this one has come out reasonably well each time
I love the way that the clouds of molecular gas swirl around forming these beastly shapes, like two dragons locked in eternal combat under the stormy skies of Ara.
The wide field gives some sense of scale as well, and it includes the mysterious X-File object NGC 6164, like a cosmic time capsule drifting in space.
It's a very cool region to image!
