Mike, there is very strong doubt indeed that this image is an impact site, looks more like a common fractured rock slide/fall - its scary when the media gets hold of these stories! ever since I have got into astronomy and now know some of the basics, I have lost a lot of respect for the media when I see how often they get stuff wrong - makes you wonder about all the other stuff they report on!
heres another very recent bolide over northern europe (i think it is bolide season around now for the world) - I would give my left .. um .. eyebrow
