Both have worked well for eye pieces and camera lenses.

I have one of these and it's an excellent tool. However, unless you have offset pins for it, I don't think you can get the arms close enough together to fit the tiny retaining ring used on the field lens of an orthoscopic.

I am away at the moment so unfortunately I can't check for you.
