It makes sense that if you have connection to a place you pay more attention to what happens there. I have friends and family in neighbouring countries and I must admit I will pay more attention to and get more emotional about attacks in that part of the world than most other places (including some Western countries like much of the US where I have no connections).
The graphic (text/info) Octane posted though is worth stopping and thinking about. It's good to put things in perspective. You are still safer in the West than almost anywhere else. The folks who cop the worst of it have to live, suffer and die under these psychos' rules.
