Personally, I like the strong, bright contrasting Milky Way stars. I think the contrast makes the image as a whole and I wouldn't change them.

Thanks Mike. I'll experiment with the stars. Maybe reducing themiddle sized ones and leaving the big and small ones intact may work.

Thanks Chris. Actually, I used TGV to denoise. I've never been comfortable with ACDNR. The lumpiness probably comes from an over aggressive application of MLT in the linear stage. TGV smoothed it out somewhat. The real answer is more data. This is not a 3.8 hour exposure galaxy.
