Not having a pop but just a share of one experience we had.

We had a stroke of luck resolving a speed issue when a friend of ours who works for Telstra logged a call on an app the employees have have which enables them to log issues their friends are having with Telstra service whilst we were bending her ear in the pub one night.

We had a largely good experience with lots of feedback and emails during trouble shooting, were sent a new modem twice because they lost the first in shipping..(hence largely) and we are up to 25mbs from about 3..

Make friends with a Telstra employee, there's still a few left. Mind you, their prepaid dongle service is a bit of a rip off.
