Backburning has killed tonight's observing
Coming home 30 minutes ago I found Ryde is blanketed in smoke so thick it actually stung my eyes. The RFS website says there's lots of hazard reduction going on this weekend while conditions are favourable.
Obviously the work needs to be done but it's too thick to stay outside. Tonight the GRS is favourable at the same time as a double shadow transit. Bummer.
Tomorrow night is also the NSAS night at Terry Hills but this is right in the middle of the burn area so that might be stuffed as well.
I hate clear skies going to waste!
