I have the 1200D and battery life is not an issue and you only expose at 1600 or max 3200 ISO. Anything above that is just gain noise amplified.
I know Nikon now has BYEos but not sure if it has quite the same capabilities as the Canon version.
Also there is a lot more astro support for the Canon range than Nikon.
Personally I'd love to see a version for SONY, my preferred camera but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
