Hi folks, I know I dont post often but I do read lots in here,
Here's my story from last week on break.
I have owned an orion xt12g from new and I love it.
I have always found if I dont apply a power source to drive the unit is so stiff to swivel (azimuth) its unusable. I could never manually slew the mount.
I didnt realize it was an issue as I always powered the mount.
Now with a bit more experience I was finding it combersome to not be able to push the scope to a target.
So I decided to take the plunge an strip the base down to find out why after a bit of research.
What I found was the clutch arrangement for the base was seized.
After stripping it downand freeing it up and adjusting the clutch plates pressure, it now works the way it should and still tracks as accurately as it ever did.
