I've attended several star parties over the years, however I've spent most of my time either looking at the night sky or other peoples telescopes to pay attention to the likely myriad of covers that people use during the day. I don't have an observatory and it often pains me to setup my gear only to pull it apart several hours later. So after some research I realised that other people have probably been protecting their telescopes from the elements during the day for years at star parties.
Long story short, I purchased a TeleGizmos 365 Series Cover.
In one sentence.... "where have you been all my life!?"
It's fantastic, and combined with my cattle-management ear tags that I nailed into the grass (for quick polar alignment) I can now setup easily and leave my scope (virtually) fully setup for days at a time. I can now have a long weekend imaging without having to dismantle!
Initially I thought the camping ensuite (green tent thing) would be a good idea, however it's really not (I bought it first). Even when it's tied down it still blows around like crazy. Luckily it was only $50 and I definitely won't use it again for astro purposes. The astro cover works perfectly fine just on its own.
I've attached some pics of my setup. I have an 8" LX200, but I purchased a cover to suit 10-11inch to accommodate my accessories. We occasionally have 40+ degree days here and so far the cover keeps everything nice and cool underneath. If you struggle with motivation to get out under the stars because you don't have an observatory, a simple telescope cover could be all that you need!
