With the moon, the exposure can be cut back to 200th at f10 or even less.250th or even 300th . The glare of overexposure will drop back and you can alter the contrast and brightness in any imaging prog.
With the planets, several dim exposures can be stacked in registax to give a bright and contrasty image.
Use lots of magnification. The planets can take it.
