100% agree Morton. Light pollution is far away the biggest bugbear to strike our hobby.

I remember 40 years ago as a teenager in Melbourne south eastern suburbia, how beautifully black the Southern sky was compared to anything today, the Coal Sack was clearly evident. And even from SE Melbourne, I could point my Royal LN4T 4 inch reflector due North and just see Lyra above the horizon to pick out M57 the Ring nebula. Never ever could you do that now...
