Seriously, it does depend on the sportsmanship of the individual and whether they know how to be magnanimous in defeat and gracious in victory - most of us can do that but alas,some of us can't. Just ignore the people who can't. Personally, though I don't always
want to compete, win or lose, it does act as an incentive for me to do better.
