It was one that I didn't need anymore, and as I thought it was damaged, I dismantled it.
Never did get around to remantling it!
Since then I usually use the corner of a tissue.
Not really been a problem since.
Could your problem be the solder connections on the inside?
A brief touch with a soldering iron might do the job.
