Hmm, explosives eh ?
OK, a school mate with the unlikely name of Tom Dooley ( no, really !!) and myself were lab techs at school. And both into rockets (another story there !! ) and explosives. He found a plan for an 'elephant gun'. This was basically a rocket propelled bullet. We had access to an old Myford lathe so turned up one of these 'bullets' basically a spin stabilised rocket about 100 mm long, no fins, and found a pipe about the right diameter for a barrel.
Took this contraption down into our local bush, back of the park\zoo and set it up jammed under a tree root and aimed across the creek. Lit the fuse and retired very quickly. Bloody great explosion and the projectile ripped out the side of a large tree with an about 500mm trunk on the other side of the creek which then promptly came crashing down in our direction.
We just did a runner ....
