Now that the planets are coming back I'm considering a basic, cheap tracking EQ mount for use with my C6. I would be buying used, and I already have an LXD-75 tripod that will serve as an upgrade to any flimsy aluminium legs that might come with a cheaper mount.
Summary of requirements:
- Inexpensive
- Sturdy enough for planetary observing with C6 SCT
- RA tracking (GOTO not required)
- Fits Vixen/EQ5 style tripod
Would I get away with an EQ3? Does it have the same 'Vixen' fitting as the EQ5/CG5 mounts?
