Hi Travis.
I've recently brought a Bintel 12 inch dob, and like you,done a few mods. I have left the original mount intact for the scope when not in use. I have made another mount out of 16mm ply, and fitted a lazy sussan bearing with a fixed bottom pin to stop the mount from rocking. it also has a 150mm hole cut out from each side and a removable EP tray. This works out to be at least a kilo lighter than the original. I hope this helps.
