G'day Everyone
Seems to be a common theme or more like problem with Auspost, no matter what state you live in.
They always leave stuff at the door in direct and clear view of the front road and the public walking or driving by. They make no attempt what so ever to hide it or look for a 'safe place' to drop the item and then leave a card in the mail stating where it is (that is what they are meant to do!)
Out of the many deliveries that I have had recently (a couple still missing!), there has never been any attempt to leave a card in the mail box stating that something has been (so called) 'safe dropped'. I don't think any of these contractors know what the 'safe drop' policy is!
Now that they have this rubber stamped 'safe drop' policy they never take it back to the post office and leave a card for it to be picked up. Why would they, they now have a solid alibi where they can swear ('Scout's Honour') that they followed the approved Auspost 'safe drop' policy. Too bad someone must have found the alleged hiding spot! This is there common way out of these matters.
I also agree with Brian that it is a joke that they have the nerve to up the prices, but offer even less of a service! They are happy to take your money and do all they can to give you a quote. But, as soon as something goes missing they don't want to know you!
Now when I send items to people via Auspost (if not going by courier) after selling online, I make it clear to the purchaser that it will be sent with tracking (which is pretty much standard nowadays). But, I also make sure the buyer understands that I will be not held responsible for missing mail and that I encourage them to pay the extra for both signed delivery and insurance. If you fail to advise purchasers of this or offer to provide this as a part of postage, I guess you do end up wearing some blame or liability. At a minimum make sure that you keep the postal receipt!
This topic just makes me angry!!!!!!
