Hi Raymo...

Converting video from one file type to another a great big
bulging can of worms.

The AVI file extension does not mean much...
AVI can use many types of file compression within the same AVI "Container"
and you have to use the right combination of compressors and their
myriad internal options before autostakkert will take them in.

I find that converting to AVI using the "MP4" standard, and removing the sound gives me the best chance of success.
a free converter called "freemake" does this with ease.

HOWEVER.......

any compression/conversions you do will result in a loss of data...

you really should try PIPP.....it sucks in the canon movs with no issues,
crops and centres for planetary, and does quality analysis on the fly,
chucking the bad frames. This means that autostakkert has less work to do when reading the resultant AVI.
