You did that incorrectly. You moved the mount between taking the photo and doing the sync. Don't do that. Slew the mount to anywhere in the sky. Doesn't need to be a bright star. In fact it's better if there isn't a bright star in the field of view because that causes one to run into catalog capriciousness. Take a photo. Don't move the mount! Image link the photo. Sync on the image linked photo. Now you can move the mount.
