I use EQMOD to control my EQ6.
Then Stellarium Scope connects to EQMOD and lets you slew the mount from Stellarium.
I think you should try installing EQMOD (
http://eq-mod.sourceforge.net/) and get that working and then try and get Stellarium Scope and Stellarium working.
Another benefit of controlling your mount through EQMOD is you'll be able to set up Astrotortilla to do plate solving for you, but leave that until everything else is working
