I captured a small bit of data on ic4604 a while ago https://www.flickr.com/photos/803366...posted-public/ and decided not to pursue it any further after realising how dim it actually was at that FOV, so I can appreciate how much digging you've had to do here! Great framing and processing.

My first image of IC 4604 wasn't much different to yours. Using ISO 6400 has made the difference, mind you sometimes there's no advantage when there's plenty of signal.
Hope to get some more time soon on this.
