Thanks Ray... I know that I'm limited to seeing vs tracking, but I'm more curious about the central stars in the HII region and whether it is physically possible to resolve the double stars using a 8" SCT.

I have never seen any amateur photo of M20 with resolution so high where those stars were split, only seen them split in Hubble images.

Looking at them in virtually all amateur pics those stars seem to take on a lumpy look, that coincides with the shape in the Hubble pics if they were blurred together but surrounding stars do not exhibit the same shape, so the reason is not tracking or seeing.
