Raymo - I have investigated more function is the Backyard EOS software and found the settings for planetary imaging uses a X5 live view function that is native in the Canon cameras - this according to the developer gives a pixel for pixel JPG image with no up or down sampling involved, so in effect, you have a smaller sensor and thus magnification of the image. BYEOS outputs this JPG stream as an AVI file ready for stacking in registax or similar. Adding a barlow to this will get me even closer with my little refractor.
