LOL at that first image.
I experienced one in Albion Park on the South Coast of NSW in the mid 60's as a child that shook everything, and it was a really unsettling experience. The next morning the street had a crack running half it's length. Not much of one (maybe 15cm wide and 30 deep), but exciting for a 7 year old to play with his matchbox cars and plastic soldiers in :-)
