Bahtinov Mask Testing for camera Lens
I have been testing custom made Masks for my Canon EOS60d camera
These were all made by Stefan Buda.
All of these tests were conducted using a streetlight about 1.5kms away, and also thru a window too. not ideal but no stars out.
but the results were ok for these tests
The two masks were a .9mm and a .5mm 67mm filter size
The first test involved my canon lens 18 to 135mm
Pic 1 is 35mm using the .5mm mask
Pic 2 is 70mm using the .5mm mask
Pic 3 is 135mm using the .5mm mask
The next zoom lens tested was a Sigma 70mm to 300mm
Pic 4 is 70mm using the .5mm mask
Pic 5 is 300mm using the .5mm mask
Pic 6 is 70mm using the .9mm mask
Pic 7 is 300mm using the .9mm mask
I could see the X pattern at 24mm but it did not show on photo
at 18mm I could not see the "X" but the pattern was still usable to get focus. as the shift left to right was usable, "3 points" as you can see in all the other pictures.
The shift is very fine but ok.
All up these fine resolution masks are a great tool for getting good images, I cant wait to actually get under clear skies for some pics.
