It's been nearly a year, and I've finally scrounged together enough to get the camera fixed. Turns out I wasn't far off the mark in terms of what it would cost me, but the camera was repaired in a sterile environment, by the manufacturer, and I got a full CCD maintenance (sensor clean, re-gas, desiccant recharge etc) done at the same time.
Looking forward to getting back into CCD imaging.
