Hi guys. The main classes that are sailed today are, International One Metre, IOM,(1metre O/A, and very restricted), Marblehead (50" O/A, sort of like the F1 class of Radio Yachting. lotsa mods allowed), Soling,(again 50" O/A, but diff. restricted hull shape), 10 rater,(bit complicated to explain), A class, (bigger again but can weigh as much as 15/25 kgm/30/45lbs). Then there are the Catamarans & Trimarans. Diff. classes in these as well.
I only run a Marblehead, as they can be rather expensive to buy or make up.
Luckily with the insurance, we have a $10meg Aust. wide coverage, with member to member as well. Also the individual clubs do not have to be Inc'd. just affiliated to the state Inc'd Society, which in turn is covered by the A.R.Y.A.Inc.
It's very similar to what we, as AA's now have, don't you think? Wonder why????? I Thank You.
The main link is to the A.R.Y.A. (www.radiosailing.org.au), with links to lots of other stuff world wide.
BTW, The IOM, (1mtr), World Cup will be held at Kawana Waters in Qld. on the 15 to 26th Sept. 2005 if anyone is interested. You will see what International Comp.sailing is all about!
