The more I use the DSLR the better my results are getting... I'm quite happy with the amount of detail I'm getting in narrowband with my 40D. I wish I had more clear nights... now I think were averaging 3-5 per month and most during or around the full moon.

I think that if the magenta halos are over powering then yes it can take away from the image and look strange and wrong, a slight purple haze on the brightest stars is OK for my liking.
