Dear Striker,

You are right. HK is light polluted. I started off by doing astrography on deep sky but this is the area where light pollution hurts most.

Besides, we also have another more serious problem, dust/haze pollution caused by industrial polluants such as sulphur and other dioxides from the rapid industrial growing Delta Pearl area in Guangdong province, just north of HK.

I therefore diversify into Planet/Moon imaging, which will increase by astro time. Imaging on planets and the Moon is not much affected by light pollution (I live in downtown) but dust/haze pollution will hurt everyting.

Other friends,

Thanks for the encouragement. I used Hartmann mask (inverse triangular type) which I learned from this forum. Thanks for sharing your valuable experience here.

I used Feathertouch dual speed focuser which makes focusing easy under Hartmann mask. I am considering upgrading to Robo-Focus to achieve better focusing accuracy.

Jupiter was higher up when I disembled the setup at 2 am. I believe that better contrast can be obtained when it is up at the zenith.
