Celestron NexStar equatorial handcontroller users

Any tips/advice regarding the NexStar equatorial mount hand controller software? I have ordered the NexSXD replacement motor board for my Vixen SXD (eliminates all issues endemic with the old Starbook, including motor noise), and it uses the NexStar handcontroller (or NexRemote), making the mount "think" it's a CGE Pro.

Which firmware/software is the most stable and best performing? (akin to how Skywatcher Synscan users comment on the various updates and how a reversion to older may be better etc). Any tricks? Anything to avoid?

I have used the NexStar before, and it seems similar enough to the Synscan layout, so shouldn't be a hard learning curve
