Gee thanks chaps. Yes, the rather cold nights at Ballarat ever so slightly helped the noise levels in the Sony, (slightly!!)
Actually the noise was still quite noticeable, but I'm learning to use Pixinsight's ACDNR noise function subtly and more importantly, lightroom seems to spectacularly love the even noise pattern of the Sony.
Rick S taught me that 40 subs can produce a really nice smooth image, so stay tuned for my smoothest image yet, I'm rather pleased with it, just finishing touches to it now. I've previously thought that 20 was the sweet spot, but bugger me, 40 is definitely an improvement.
