I feel for you.
I'm in the process of rescuing my daughter's Win7 lappy.
Managed to saved the important data before the whole disc went bung.
Bought a new 2.5" HDD ($89) and was able to get things back into service myself.
So important to backup your data.
I might do a little write-up on this.
