My laptop, a Toshiba, came with a utility that allowed me to disable the USB 3 part of the ports - in effect making them behave like USB 2 ports. It was only after I did this that the SSAG was recognised by my applications. This was despite downloading the latest drivers from Orion and meticulosly following their directions for installation on a Win 8.0/8.1 system.

There may be a way of doing this for any computer - slower, but at least it works.
