The new one unfortunately is made of plastic which obviously is more cost effective to make but less appealing (to me anyway). It apparently works well, the only caution is to use eyepieces with barrels that do not protrude too much into the turret as they can foul the rotating action and damage the diagonal. Having said that, I think I can already see my four radian sitting in one.
