Fireball alright! These are meteors that come into the atmosphere at a very shallow angle, rather than the steep one short, flash-like streaks one sees. Coming in at a shallow angle, they skim along the top of the atmosphere, so they are longer lived. Can be very spectacular, and often leave a glowing trail behind them.

Fireballs can be quite sensational as they are always an unexpected sighting. Freaky even when you see a glowing after trail for the first time!
