One day Jane informed Tom that she had been injured in a car accident and needed money. Tom was now suspicious. He refused.
A day or two later Tom contacted Jane's Parents. They knew nothing about any car accident. Jane has not been in contact with Tom for a week now.
Now Tom has been saying to me he believes it was a scam. That has been my mindset since he had told me that a 19 yr o was in love with him.
Tom has now initiated contact with another young Philippine woman.
I now say nothing. I don't want to know about it.

If you have ever been in the Philippines, it is not hard to imagine that car accidents happen very often

Worst traffic I have ever encountered. When I was there in Dec, I was worried I was going to make the plane home, I allowed 3hrs for the 10km journey, only took an 1.45hrs though.
On the other side of it, from people I know in the Philippines, the morality of "double dating" is very open and questionable. I have heard many stories of two friends dating the same woman and both knowing about it, yet the woman denying everything and these are locals, not imports.
