Full spectrum mods improve sensitivity in the UV part of the spectrum too. Of course for us astronomers the big gain is in H-alpha. UV has a fair bit of extinction from the atmosphere, and the blue filters on your Bayer-mosaicked chip aren't going to let much UV in anyway.
