[Mokusatsu (Australia)]

I just got back from a couple of days/nights camping in the Lane Poole Reserve near Dwellingup. It was good fun, the conditions were great and the skies were reasonably dark. Only problem was the trees. From my campsite the canopy was pretty dense and offered only glimpses of sky, but even from the carpark a perimeter of tall trees meant I spent the night moving around trying to find suitable gaps in the treeline to see interesting objects. It's really not that great a destination for astronomy.

Is there a thread devoted to the topic of places near Perth to find dark skies?
