I basically don't even bother in summer to get the scope.
Basically summer is storms, cloud and heat rising off the ground as well the viewing paddock is usually full of snakes as well on their evening hunt.
I restrict my viewing with the scope to Autumn, Winter and early Spring when the nights are cool and you get nice crisp viewing.
