Is that really a "pretty accurate" look as the caption suggests? Increased brightness aside, M31 is much too close to the moon. Correct me if i'm wrong, but M31's declination is about 41.25 deg N and the Moon's max declination is about 28.5 deg N. Unless I'm missing something, that should mean that the two can't get closer to each other than about 12.75 degrees, 4 times the galaxy's apparent width. Incidentally, it would make it a much easier target for Southerners than it is.
The orientation is probably wrong too, but I can't be bothered now...
