I've run DSLR Controller on a few tablets and phones over the years and I've never found one that didn't work, though I guess I could have just been lucky...

Android has supported host mode for many years so unless your tablet is ancient (by contemporary tech standards) you should be fine.

The thing that separates DSLR Controller on Android from the other options, like Cam Ranger, is that it can control a Canon DSLR directly over a usb cable with the only additional purchase required being a $2 adapter. It's certainly not as revolutionary now days that many new cameras have wifi and can be controlled by any phone/tab but a few years ago when it came out it was amazing
Hmmm, didn't know that. I'm going the BYE route now which looks awesome but my Samsung has USB so DSLR control could be useful if I ever go to a dark site. Must investigate further.
Thanks.
