How are you stacking them, Dave? I stack lightning shots In PS with combination mode "lighten" so only those pixels that are lighter than the previous layer are added.

Do you have any neutral density filters? They're great for extending your exposures in daylight. I usually stack and ND 4 and an ND8 and then use the intervalometer. Although these days I have adjustable ND filters (actually two polarising filters that you can rotate w.r.t. each other so I can dial up whatever exposure duration I want. Haven't used hem yet on lightning, just long exposures of waterfalls and rapids.
